Contest Details |
The top 4 contestants will be chosen by our panel of judges comprised of photography teachers from NYC.In addition, one People’s Choice Award will be selected through on-line voting by the viewers.Highly rated photographs will also receive honorable mentions.An award ceremony and exhibition of these photographs will be held at Icosahedron Gallerie in TriBeCa, NYC at the conclusion of the competition. The photos submitted for the contest need to depict the theme “charity and compassion in-action” or “a call-for-action” (e.g. an image of volunteers serving food to the homeless or an empty plate signifying those without food).
Along with each photo, please submit a description on "The Needs", "The Action" (that was taken or can be taken to alleviate the need) and optionally “The Non-Profit Organization” that we can support for the cause.

Eligibility
All are encouraged to enter, including professional, semi-professional, amateur or student photographers. Contest period
The competition begins at 12 A.M. Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) on May 10, 2007, and ends at 11:59 P.M. EST on June 30, 2007 (the “competition period”). Any images submitted after the allotted competition period will not be considered. The organizers reserve the right to cancel the competition at any time, without prior notification or obligation, for any reason.
To enter the competition, submit a photo online at http://www.flickr.com/groups/charityinfocus.Contestants are asked to submit images that best capture the essence of the competition.
All entries: (a)must be charity related; (b)must be accompanied by a description on “The Needs”, “The Actions” or optionally, the nonprofit organization that can support the cause; (c)must be digital files saved as highest quality JPEG's or TIFF's, and must be reproducible athigh resolution (300-600 DPI).Images that do not fulfill such requirements may subject disqualification. (d)must be a genuine photographic image that is recognizable and not a completely created image. Digital retouching is allowed though restricted solely to simple color correction and cropping. Digitally manipulated images will be disqualified. Images need not be originally digital, but must fulfill the above requirements for consideration. (e)must be originals.By submitting their entries, participants are affirming that the images are their original work, that they are the holder of the copyright or that they have the right to copyright any and all photographs submitted to this competition. (f)It is the participant’s responsibility to obtain proper consensus for permission to photograph and exhibit the images of any subjects.The organizers will not be held responsible for any claims or legal action as a result of the use of the photograph. Rules of Competition
(a)If entrant provides false information, they will be disqualified from the competition.Infringement of any rules and regulations governing the competition will render the entrant liable to forfeiture of any title or prize. (b)The organizers will not be liable for any lost, late or misdirected entries. (c) By submitting their entries, participants are affirming the submitted photos are subject to attribution non-commercial license. The organizers reserve the right to print, crop and display the photos for the purpose of the exhibition. The top 3 winning photos may also be included in the free exhibition program that will be made available to the audience for the duration of the exhibition period (July 20 - July 22, 2007). Photos will not be used for any commercial gain under any circumstances. (d)In case of disputes, the decision of the judging panel is final. (e)The organizers are not eligible to join the competition. (f)Appropriate information will be photocopied, disclosed or publicized if an award is granted or when necessary, at the full discretion of the organizers. (g)By entering photos into the competition participants agree to hold harmless and indemnify the organizers for any claims from third parties that claim a violation of copyright, trademarks or any other intellectual property rights by reason of any photograph submitted by such participant. (h)The organizers reserve the right to interpret and amend the rules and conditions of the competition.
Selection of Winners
All entries will be judged on how well the image captures the essence of the competition as described above through technical composition and artistic expression. Winners will be selected by expression of the theme, aesthetics and skills, creativity, and overall impact.The winners will be determined by the judges. All winners will be notified by their registered email address.Judging will be conducted by a panel of qualified judges as described above. The decisions of the judging panel are final on all matters relating to the competition. |
